The pandemic has hit the homeless community hard. We have seen a dramatic increase in the necessary access to food. We are meeting this increased demand with more meals served and through the new Mobile Mission Meals Food Truck. We are more than a shelter. “Thank you SSi for being a Business on a Mission.

Food security is a very real problem in Canada's North. The Nunavut food bank is a registered non-profit society to help reduce hunger in Iqaluit and Nunavut.

Helping at-risk children and youth for nearly 100 years. BGC has the greatest reach and impact on at-risk children and youth. The BGC of Ottawa provides thousands of at-risk children and youth with a safe space during the vulnerable hours of the day, and FREE access to life-changing programs.

The goal of the society is to support and assist women in empowering themselves so they can develop their goals, achieve wellness, enjoy equality and be recognized for the contribution they make to the community.

Nunavut’s first child advocacy centre. Dedicated staff support children and families through experiences of abuse. This year, due to the pandemic, we were unable to see our clients in person and SSi Canada responded to our need to provide internet services as well as financial support.

SSi Canada donates to Chrysalis House. A transition house providing emergency shelter and crisis support, counselling, housing, legal and parenting supports to abused women and their children.

"We would like to thank SSi Canada for its generous donation to our organization. The NWT Disabilities Council is a territorial, pan disability organization that exists to educate, advocate, and support the self-determination of all individuals with disabilities in the NWT.

This community organization offers a place that is accessible, culturally appropriate and is a place where people can access a wide variety of healing programs. With the lock down that is happening right now, the SSi funds will be used to provide hampers of food and supplies to families in need.

SSi has supported Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit by contributing to annual fundraisers and donating internet connectivity in Iqaluit for visiting volunteers. With affordable housing in Nunavut being a critical issue, SSi is pleased to lend a helping hand.

SSi has proudly sponsored The Pinnguaq Association which uses STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) for unique learning that promote storytelling, health, wellness and growth in rural and remote communities.

Given SSi’s passion for the North and dedication to youth, we have been pleased to provide support to a Students on Ice expedition to Nunavut in the form of donated internet service in the visited communities.

SSi made communications history providing unprecedented high speed internet access for the epic Canada C3 Expedition.

SSi is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of Rankin Inlet Hockey, supporting and encouraging sports and community wellness for hockey enthusiasts of all ages.

SSi believes in diversity and equality for all. By sponsoring the Rainbow Coalition of Yellowknife and the NWT Pride Festival, SSi is standing up for gay rights and supporting programs that raise awareness and advocate for safer and more equitable NWT communities.

Over the Christmas holiday season, SSi staff held a 50/50 draw and raised $740 for the Igloolik Food Bank to help fill Christmas hampers for needy families in the Nunavut community.

To celebrate the launch of SSi Mobile in Iqaluit, SSi held a special event at the Qajukturvik Food Centre (the Iqaluit “Soup Kitchen”) and raised funds to support the preparation of meals for the homeless and underprivileged in Iqaluit.

SSi proudly sponsored Connected North in Nunavut and the NWT, donating dedicated satellite capacity to enable interactive education. Connecting classrooms and youth to experts, scientists and peers in southern Canada via two-way video technology.

SSi sponsored the round-trip travel costs for two Inuit youth from Gjoa Haven and Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, enabling them to participate in a 21-day leadership program in the Bay of Fundy area.
